On Thursday, Reedi messaged me mentioning that there was a Blue Angels Homecoming in Pensacola this weekend. Within an hour we had decided that we were going to be in Florida for the weekend. We left after work on Friday and headed to the Florida Welcome Center were we spent Friday night. Early saturday, we head to Fort Pickens Park and found a parking spot along the sea wall across the Bay from the Pensacola Naval Air Station where we watched the air show. From there, we had dinner in Pensacola and made our way to the Alabama Welcome Center for the evening. On Sunday, we made our way back home through the backroads of southern Mississippi.
After spending the night at the Florida Welcome Center on I-10 at the Alabama-Florida state line, we woke up early so that we could get a prime viewing location at Fort Pickens Park. While the weather was beautiful, our Lilo can be a bit of a Goldilocks. She found the wonderfully clear, crisp weather a bit too cold for her liking. She spent the morning in bed. While waiting for the airshow to start, we relaxed in our van along the seawall. We made coffee and lounged listening to the waves lap against the shore of the nearby bay.It doesn’t happen often, but we decided on a drink before dinner at Flounder’s Chowder House in Pensacola.I enjoyed a shrimp plate for dinner at Flounder’s Chowder House. We returned to our van, Nigel, after dinner just as the sun was setting. Reedi and I have enjoyed many sunset dinners during our frequent trip to the Pensacola area.We spent Saturday night at the Alabama Welcome Center as we left Florida. We awoke Sunday morning to a mostly empty lot. We then moseyed on home through southern Mississippi hitting a few stores along the way.
