It’s December here in Louisiana and we took advantage of one of the first cool, crisp weekends to take a road trip 4 hours north to Natchitoches, La. This was the 97th Natchitoches Festival of Lights, and we’ve always wanted to make a trip to the City of Lights to experience the festivities. Our daughter lived in Natchitoches for 3 years as she attended high school at the nearby Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. However, we had never made the trip until now.
We stayed Friday night at the Cracker Barrel in Alexandria, La.This was our first trip with our new Bird ebikesWe enjoyed a ride along the lake on the campus of Northwestern State UniversityWe had to send this one to our daughter, who went to high school nearby. We saw this place show up on many a credit card statement when she was in school…It was a nice, cool evening as we enjoyed the Natchitoches Festival of LightsWe happened upon a live performance by Rockin’ Dopsie Jr & The Zydeco Twisters! Our evening was capped off by a quiet stroll along the cobblestone streets after most of the festival goers had gone home.Love our morning routine in Nigel (our van)!Gum Springs is the site of CCC camp in the early 20th centuryNigel always looks right at home in the National Forest! On our way out of town, we stopped at the Gum Springs Campground in the Kisatchee National Forest
